This is the picture of my friend at the glassblowing workshop. It interests me because of the busy background on the wall and in the room. I try to simplify the background and put more emphasis on the 2 main characters who are working on glassblowing. It's an interesting experience for painting subject like this and I am sure will paint more like this later.Ranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00031055877383482608noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9060941265924955395.post-69772984341044562612017-08-27T17:09:00.000-07:002017-08-27T21:24:31.532-07:00Waiting in front of veranda<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYew4GJGapJsgF9ihF-qT8G7g0JDVwLRIZr0xJD7DOD4i3D6fBmxKduAwz64hIMOH-Ikdvl4fkI7nVIawvMsdMWtXBOI9dZoCp1YhO9HJ9skpayuiKgGZmq7IzSHsUQ23Nq6IOCVzroFs/s1600/DSC_0306-sm.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYew4GJGapJsgF9ihF-qT8G7g0JDVwLRIZr0xJD7DOD4i3D6fBmxKduAwz64hIMOH-Ikdvl4fkI7nVIawvMsdMWtXBOI9dZoCp1YhO9HJ9skpayuiKgGZmq7IzSHsUQ23Nq6IOCVzroFs/s320/DSC_0306-sm.JPG" width="249" height="320" data-original-width="857" data-original-height="1100" /></a></div>
It took me a while to finish this painting as I was struggling with the perspective and even light. The canvas was on and off the easel for a few weeks and I was seriously thinking about abandoning the painting. But there was always that unknown force driving me back to this painting every few days. So after weeks of going back and forth, here is the painting of a beautiful young lady posing in front of the veranda for her glamour shot. This is a picture of my friend's son Will who was in the Black Rock dessert for testing the rocket launch as the Boy Scout science project. When I first saw the picture of a young man in the scorching hot and dry dessert environment, I said to myself that's a good picture to paint. After 2 years with all the distractions and excuses, I finally did it..... it's a long journey ! I'm used to painting the light directly shinning on the model's face, but this time the light source was from behind so the face was in the dark side. I learned a lot from painting the model in this kind of studio setting, and hope I will be more fluent next time. This time I tried to render the painting more impressionistic to learn (and practice) more of impromptu paintings. I enjoy this painting process very much, and see the result is more dramatic than my usual paintings.Ranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00031055877383482608noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9060941265924955395.post-41631505711642766762017-04-11T08:27:00.000-07:002017-06-27T21:30:31.577-07:00Sisters<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp6scmcQqqIpONE7OoBMBI1YD1063yTp85bKqGT7GRpJQWYu6yE6iRHg35j3RqGnd_dK7vC8A3vRJ2ciCJutlzNAKcWSqh3rBx6ZdpzrZdiWgvTRlDivdf9Fgo37_vGsUqvv2wrthoyb8/s1600/DSC_0155-sm.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp6scmcQqqIpONE7OoBMBI1YD1063yTp85bKqGT7GRpJQWYu6yE6iRHg35j3RqGnd_dK7vC8A3vRJ2ciCJutlzNAKcWSqh3rBx6ZdpzrZdiWgvTRlDivdf9Fgo37_vGsUqvv2wrthoyb8/s320/DSC_0155-sm.JPG" width="244" height="320" data-original-width="762" data-original-height="1000" /></a></div>

After 8 months of absence, I finally get back to my painting routine again.
This is the painting of a young model Sahara. I painted her in one live model session and finished with photo reference. Although I felt rusty when painting her (due to lack of practice), I'm glad I did it. Ranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00031055877383482608noreply@blogger.com0
